
Why we stopped making “disposable” bathroom heaters
Most waterproof bathroom heaters are basically sealed boxes. Sure, that keeps the steam out, but it’s a total nightmare when something actually breaks. Imagine using a heater for five years, only for one heating element to pop. Usually, that means you have to rip the whole thing out of the wall and throw it in the trash. That just felt wrong to us. So, we switched things up with a modular infrared setup. The “Swap and Go” Logic We decided to make our infrared modules like Lego bricks. Instead of messing around with soldering irons or fighting with permanent glue, the heating elements sit in their own chassis with quick-connect terminals. If a tube goes out, you don’t need a whole afternoon and a lot of swearing. You just pull the old module out and slide a new one in. We’ve turned a two-hour headache into a ten-minute job. Dealing with Steam and Heat Here’s the tricky part: waterproofing usually means blocking airflow. But when you trap air, you trap heat, and that’s how electronics fry. To fix this, we use high-grade quartz glass and tight gaskets to keep the steam away from the electrics. Since we’re using infrared, the heat goes straight to you, not the air. This means the outer housing doesn’t get stressed out by extreme temperature swings. The Honest Trade-off Now, look—nothing is perfect. A modular design means more connection points than a single cast piece of metal. And every connector is a potential weak spot if you aren’t careful. When you’re swapping a module, you’ve got to make sure those seals are tight. If they aren’t, moisture will find a way in. But we think it’s worth it. We built these to handle the weird voltage spikes you get in home wiring, and by keeping the heating element separate from the control board, you only replace the part that’s actually worn out. It’s cheaper to ship, it’s better for the planet, and it just makes sense for anyone who actually owns their hardware for the long haul.
